Amazon’s Great Indian Festival 2026 starts on October 8 for all customers. Some early deals have already gone live, so if you have been waiting for the festive sales to buy a phone, TV, appliance or just a few things for Diwali, this is the time to start looking.

Below is what Amazon has announced so far, and a few habits that help you get a real discount instead of an exciting-looking one.

What Amazon has announced

According to Amazon India, the sale covers most of the usual categories, with discounts of up to 40% on smartphones, up to 65% on smart TVs, projectors and home appliances, and up to 80% on electronics accessories, fashion and beauty. Everyday essentials go up to 70% off, and two-wheelers, sports and toys are listed at flat 50% off. These are “up to” figures, so the best price only applies to select products. Most items you actually want will be discounted by less.

On payments, SBI credit cards, debit cards and credit card EMI get a 10% instant discount. The Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card gives unlimited 5% cashback to Prime members and 3% to others. Amazon Pay Later is offering 10% cashback and 3 interest-free EMIs on orders above ₹1,500. Prime members are also promised up to 10% extra benefits on select products. The exact caps, minimum order values and eligible products vary by offer, so read the terms on the product page before you pay.

Expect the usual deal formats too: Blockbuster Deals, Top 100 Deals, Mega Deals, 8 PM Deals, Buy More Save More and No Cost EMI.

How to avoid paying more than you need to

Make a short list now, before the sale starts. Write down the two or three things you really need and the price you would be happy to pay for each. Sales are designed to make everything look tempting, and a list is the easiest way to stay out of impulse buying.

Check the price history. The listed discount is measured against the MRP, which is often higher than what the product normally sells for. A price tracker, or just your own note of what the item cost last month, tells you whether the “60% off” is real.

Look at the final price at checkout, after the bank offer. A 10% instant discount helps only if your card qualifies and the cap works for your order value. Also compare No Cost EMI carefully, because the interest is sometimes absorbed into a reduced discount.

Don’t ignore the last week of the sale. Stock sometimes runs out on day one for popular phones and TVs, but prices on many items also drop or stay the same later. If something is not urgent, you can wait a few days and watch.

Finally, buy from sellers with good ratings and check the return window, especially for electronics and fashion.

Where to start

Phones, laptops and TVs get the most attention every year, and they are also where prices swing the most, so check them first. If you are looking for books, gadgets or home items, browse the category pages on the day itself, since lightning deals change through the day.

As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Offers, prices and bank terms are set by Amazon and the banks, and can change during the sale, so please confirm everything on Amazon before you buy.
