Most men don’t put much thought into buying a trimmer. You pick whatever is on offer, use it till it dies, and then repeat. Fair enough. But at under ₹1,000, the difference between a decent trimmer and a bad one shows up fast: uneven cuts, a battery that gives up in two weeks, or that pulling feeling on your chin.
The Philips BT3325 is one of the most bought trimmers on Amazon India right now. It sits at #2 in beard trimmers, and it has over 8,000 ratings. So I went through the specs and a lot of what buyers are saying to see if it deserves the hype.
Price and what’s in the box
When I checked, it was selling for ₹799, down from an MRP of ₹1,699. That’s more than half off, though Philips trimmers are almost always discounted on Amazon, so don’t treat the MRP too seriously.
In the box you get the trimmer, an adjustable comb, a small cleaning brush and a USB charging cable. No adapter, so you’ll use your phone charger or a laptop port.
The basics
- Length settings: 10, from 0.5 mm to 10 mm, set with a dial
- Blades: self-sharpening steel with rounded tips
- Runtime: up to 60 minutes cordless
- Charging: 1.5 hours full charge, 15 minutes quick charge for one trim
- Charging type: USB, with a battery indicator
- Weight: 136 g
- Warranty: 2 years, plus 1 extra year if you register on the Philips website
- Colour: Navy blue
What it does well
The dial is simple and accurate. You turn the dial on the comb to pick your length, and there are 10 steps between 0.5 mm and 10 mm. That’s enough to go from a light stubble to a full, short beard. A lot of first-time trimmer buyers mention how easy it is to figure out, and it does seem like one of those products you can use without reading the manual.
60 minutes is a lot. Most people trim for five or ten minutes a few times a week, so one full charge can last you close to a month. That’s useful if you travel, or if you’re the type who always forgets to charge things. The 15-minute quick charge helps on those mornings when you pick it up and the battery is dead.
USB charging. Small thing, but very handy. You don’t need to carry a separate adapter on trips.
The 3-year warranty. At this price, that’s generous. Do register the product on the Philips website after buying, otherwise you only get 2 years. Philips also has a proper service network in India, which matters more than people think when something goes wrong.
Comfortable on skin for most people. The rounded blade tips are meant to stop scratches, and many buyers say it trims without irritation.
What buyers complain about
I’d rather tell you this now than have you find out after buying.
Battery problems for some. Battery life gets mixed feedback. Many people are happy with it, but a noticeable number say it stopped working or stopped holding charge after a month or so. If that happens to you, the warranty should cover it, so keep your invoice safe.
Some cuts and nicks. Around 40 reviews mention cuts or bleeding. This usually happens when using it without the comb at the shortest setting, or pressing too hard around the neck and jawline. Go slow the first few times, especially if you’re new to trimmers.
Not the most precise. Some users say it misses hairs and needs a few extra passes. The “Lift & Trim” system is meant to help with this, but it isn’t perfect. Fine for everyday trimming, less good for sharp beard lines and detailed styling.
A bit noisy. Not loud, but you’ll notice it if you’re used to a more expensive trimmer.
It’s also worth knowing the listing is sold by a third-party seller (Kay Kay Overseas Corporation), shipped through Amazon. Check that the seller and the “Philips” brand store details look right when you order.
Who it’s good for
This is a good pick if you:
- Are buying your first trimmer
- Keep a short beard or stubble and trim a few times a week
- Want a reliable brand without spending much
- Need something light for travel
- Are looking for a simple, useful gift for a brother, husband or father (Diwali is close)
It’s probably not the right one if you:
- Have a long, thick beard and want very precise shaping
- Want a multi-grooming kit for nose, ears and body as well
- Need a waterproof trimmer you can use in the shower (the listing doesn’t mention it being washable)
Quick answers
How long does the battery last?
Up to 60 minutes on a full charge. For most people that’s 3 to 4 weeks of normal use.
How long does it take to charge?
About 1.5 hours for a full charge. A 15-minute quick charge is enough for one trim.
What’s the shortest setting?
0.5 mm, which gives a close stubble look. It isn’t a shaver, so it won’t give a completely clean shave.
Is the warranty 2 or 3 years?
2 years standard. You get the third year only after registering the trimmer on the Philips website.
Can it be used for hair on the head?
It’s made for beards. You can use it for small touch-ups, but it isn’t meant for full haircuts.
