Every year the first cold morning arrives before the geyser decision does. Someone fills a bucket on the gas stove, the old heater that was “going to be looked at” trips the MCB, and the family spends a week of winter debating capacity, star ratings and whether a 15-litre tank is enough for four people. If that is your house this month, this guide is for you. With Diwali shopping about to start, it is a good time to decide calmly instead of in a rush.

I looked at four storage geysers listed on Amazon.in: three 15-litre models and one 25-litre model. I could not open the Amazon pages themselves from my tools, so the specifications below come from the Amazon listing titles and each brand’s own pages or retailer spec sheets. Where a detail was unclear I have left it out instead of guessing. None of this is a lab test; it is what the makers state, with my view on who each one suits.

How to choose before you look at models

Start with how many people bathe in the morning. A 15-litre tank usually covers one or two people, or a small kitchen sink and a bucket bath. For a family of four with a shared bathroom, 25 litres is the more comfortable choice, because the second person is not waiting for the water to heat again.

Next, your water. In many cities the supply is hard, and scale builds up on the heating element and tank lining. Look for a coated tank, a corrosion-resistant element and an anode rod. They do not stop scale, but they help the geyser last.

Then check the pressure. If you live above the fourth or fifth floor or have a booster pump, you want a tank rated for higher pressure; 8 bar is the figure you will see most often. Finally, read the warranty line by line. Tank, heating element and the whole product usually carry different periods, and the long number in the headline is almost always the tank alone.

A 5-star rating means lower standby loss, which matters because a geyser spends most of its day keeping water warm.

Crompton Arno Neo 15L

The Amazon listing calls it a 5-star rated storage geyser with advanced three-level safety, and it carries a national energy conservation award from 2023 in the title. Crompton’s own page gives 2000 W, a powder-coated body, PUF insulation, a magnesium anode with a stainless steel core, and a weight of about 7.8 kg. Warranty is 5 years on the tank and 2 years each on the element and the product.

It pairs a 5-star rating with a compact size. The weaker part is the tank warranty, which is shorter than some rivals offer, and Crompton’s page does not name the tank lining or a pressure rating, so check the manual if you live in a high-rise.

It suits a couple or a small family that wants a plain, efficient geyser. Skip it if you have a pump-fed supply and want a clearly stated pressure rating.

Havells Monza Pro 15L

The listing for this one leans on hard water: an Endurashield-coated tank, an Mcoloy heating element, and a note that it is suitable for high-rise buildings. Spec sheets show 2000 W, 8 bar pressure with a multi-function valve, a stainless-steel-core anode, and Whirlflow technology, which keeps incoming cold water apart from the heated water so you get more usable hot water. Warranty listed is 5 years on the tank, 2 years on the element and 2 years comprehensive.

Where it does well is the hard-water story and the pressure rating, both stated plainly. Where it is less clear is the star rating, which I could not confirm from the sources I read, so look at the energy label on the Amazon page before you buy.

It suits flats in cities with hard water, especially higher floors. It is less suitable if a confirmed 5-star label is your first filter.

Bajaj Shield Series New Shakti 15L

This is the model with the longest warranty of the four. The listing title states a 5-star rating, a child safety mode, 10 years on the tank, 6 years on the heating element and 4 years on the product. Retailer spec sheets add 2000 W, 8 bar maximum pressure, a magnesium anode, weld-free tank joints and Swirlflow technology, and an adjustable thermostat.

The strength is plain: a 5-star rating, a stated high-rise rating and a long tank warranty in one package. The child safety mode is a useful extra if there are small children, though no setting replaces supervision around hot water. On the downside, 15 litres limits it to smaller households, and you should read what each warranty actually covers.

It suits families who keep a geyser for ten years and care about warranty cover. Skip it if you need more than one long shower back to back.

Racold Eterno Pro 25L

The only 25-litre unit here. The listing title mentions an ABS body, a titanium enamel coating, a 7-year tank warranty and a BEE 4-star rating. Spec pages add a titanium steel tank, a protective anode, high-density PUF insulation, a weight of about 10 kg, and modes that let you pick between a bucket bath and a shower. Racold’s pipes are not in the box; a service engineer fits them. Free installation is offered in many areas but not all, so check your pincode.

The capacity is the reason to look at it. A family of four can usually manage several baths from a single heating cycle. The trade-offs are the 4-star rating, the larger size on the wall, so check the current price on Amazon.

It suits households of four or more, or anyone who takes long showers. Skip it if the bathroom is tight or if you live alone.

Things worth checking at home

Measure the wall. A 25-litre tank is noticeably bigger than a 15-litre one, and the mounting bracket needs a solid wall, not a thin partition. Check that your bathroom has a proper earthed 16-amp socket, because a geyser draws about 2 kW and a shared socket is a risk. Ask whether installation is free for your pincode and whether the pipes are included, since this is where small extra costs appear.

Before you pay, open the reviews on Amazon and filter for the most recent ones. Look for comments on installation and service response.
